Much is said and written about the VIP culture that’s plaguing the country, but there are some aspects of the issue that are not just related to the VIPs and require some introspection. Mostly, it is the commoners who have to face this culture and it is evident, but not limited to, the streets. Excessive and sometimes ruthless security protocols, illegal fancy number plates coupled with a political party’s flag hoisted on the car’s front, are some of the evident social illnesses. Lately, I have noticed a lot of cars bearing a fancy number plate which, instead of a vehicular number, has certain initials inscribed on them; such as “Advocate”, “Press” and “MPA”.
